Let’s just say that your old clothes smell a bit…ripe. But what can you do with them?
You don’t have the time to actually do laundry, but you also need to have those exact clothes cleaned, pronto!
So if washing your clothes is too tedious a task right now, don’t worry. There are some ways through which you can clean your clothes without wasting water through your washing machine!
Yes, you read that right! This is an old trick so it’s trustworthy. Ball up some newspaper and stuff it in the sleeves, legs and underarms of the shirt. Leave it overnight or at least for 4 hours. Paper tends to absorb the odor around it so it’ll work in a pinch if you need to use a particular piece of clothing.
Steaming isn’t just useful for getting those wrinkles out of your clothes. The steam essentially causes the clothing fibers to relax, which allows the odor to release from the threads, thus giving you a stink-free shirt. So either use a steamer or turn on the hot shower and hang your shirt for a while to get that smell out.
Hang your clothes outside, or just string them in front of an open window for about an hour. The fresh air and sunlight will work as natural cleaners. Not to mention that the sunlight will kill off any bacteria that may be residing in those stains.
Baking soda can absorb the smell in your clothing. Sprinkle some on the spots that smell the most and let it sit out overnight. Shake it off before you wear.
Especially use this tip if you want to deodorize your jeans. Wrap your clothes in a plastic bag, and set them in the freezer for a couple hours. The cold temperature will kill off any bacteria that might be causing the smell.
Then have it dry-cleaned!
